The Journey Spring 2011

Today the first leaders for The Journey Spring 2011 will begin arriving at Maranatha Conference Center in Muskegon.  By tomorrow at 5pm we will all be on campus and "leaders weekend" will begin.

There will many new things this Spring:

-New Executive Director
-New Journey Guide
-New Motto
-New Banners and Signs for the week
-New T-shirts, tote bags and water bottles
-New worship experience

New Beginnings in many ways.  And, there will be the foundation of something tried and true, caring for people and walking with them through their stories in ways that leave them more connected to the Lord and more aware of the reality of the Gospel.

As the team of supervisors met earlier this week via conference call a theme emerged, the theme of being acutely aware of our need for Jesus and our complete dependence on Him.  Alongside that theme there was a sense unity and connection that felt safe and encouraging as we head into the weekend and then next week.

I am again aware that The Journey (SALT's) is not something we present, it is not material that we lay out in some orderly fashion imparting facts and helpful information.  The Journey is something we live.  All of us in leadership for Open Hearts Ministry are living what we talk about when we stand on the platform or lead a small group.  We are walking through our own stories, visiting places of shame, noticing where we're living with contempt and inviting people to speak into our lives.  Most importantly each of us is committed to continuing to seek the Lord in new and deeper ways.

We are coming into The Journey week ready to meet Jesus for ourselves, and ready to wait with others as they seek to meet Him in their places of need.  We are coming ready to celebrate new beginnings and offer gratitude for the solid foundation laid for us in the past.  We are coming ready to care for people.  We are coming ready to see God once again work miracles as He binds up the broken hearted and brings freedom to those held captive.

If you are coming to join us for The Journey next week we look forward to seeing you!

If you aren't coming we ask for your prayers of intercession for all in attendance.

Here's a link to song that will be part of our theme for the week.
